Custom Woodwork

At the age of 11, I watched Bob Vila build a canvas on wood frame kayak.  I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears.  Learning that you could apply varnish and paint to canvas and make a watertight object was astounding.  The lightweight wooden frame, it was functional art.  I was hooked, telling my mother as I raced by "I'm building a kayak", "that's nice dear," she replied.  Off I went and produced my first wooden boat in 1992.  20 years later in 2012, I was honored to be a part of a team that was awarded first place in the Mystic Seaport concourse d’elegance for professional wooden boat restoration.  The vessel was a 36’ Grand Banks trawler named Sarah Carol.  I have been fortunate to work on many diverse and unique wood projects from custom cabinetry & furniture to post and beam barns to carbon fiber sailboats, always believing that anything is achievable with the right approach and work ethic.  Let’s work together and create functional art that will not only last for generations, but hopefully inspire the next generation as well.
